These are the images that I worked on using Photopea for my website.  I aimed to try for three different types of adjustments styles, grain, layers, and brightness of hues, to see what tones of colors and what approaches I wanted my website to have that would also tie along well with the stories that I wanted to share here.

For this image, I wanted to highlight how intergenerational relationships can stay with us as we grow older, especially for individuals who are becoming young adults, the relationships that are crafted with those older than us can have lasting impacts on the types of decisions, careers, relationships, and opportunities a person chooses to pursue.  The relationships that we craft as a child as well as the relationships that are created as an emerging adult are some of the most impactful because of how much both people in the relationship can learn from each other.  There is much knowledge and personal experiences that can be shared between two people in an intergenerational relationship.  In this photo in particular, I wanted to highlight how this woman is holding up a mirror and instead of only seeing herself, she is also able to see a memory of her and her grandmother when she was younger, catching butterflies.  I wanted to first blend in butterflies into the already existing image of the granddaughter and grandmother and then place more layers of butterflies around the actual present day image of the older woman and showcase how there is a connection and impact of this interaction that the woman had with her grandmother that stuck with her so profoundly that she is recalling this found memory.

In this image, I layered two photos together and used the layer "Lighten" to showcase a contrast of togetherness and community.  The background image is of a group of individuals coming together and embracing in a high five, and the foreground photo is that of two people holding each other's fingers, one smaller and one larger.  I really loved the way that these two images bring about a sense of love and the necessity of having community.

In this image I changed the brightness and the hues on the photo to increase the yellow and green tones and also lowered the saturation of the scene to enhance more of the three generations of individuals and allowing the light to spotlight the activities and actions of what is happening around them.

Group of people photo.jpg

For this image, I chose to use both the layer feature and added an additional piece of text.  I wanted to create a contrast between a group of individuals all standing together in what seems to be a celebratory stance while another image of two people reaching the top of a mountain together are fused into the back of the image.  It makes for a type of hidden message of the strength and power in a support network through leaning on and doing hard things with other people. Everyone has a story of this kind of caliber and I wanted to be able to evoke those emotions that would allow viewers to want to share or even just personally reflect back on their own.
